This short piece was composed for the UMBC New Music Ensemble, directed by Daniel Pesca, as part of their "BLINK" student composition project. Each composition was to be 1-2 minutes in length. The phrase "a hop, a skip, and a jump" refers to a short distance, reflecting the brevity of this work.

Due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020, the piece received its premiere virtually, performed by David Lomotey (euphonium) and Daniel Pesca (piano).
